Arriving in Venice by Boat
Most cruise ships arrive at either the Marittima terminal buildings or San Basilio Maritime Station, which caters mostly to smaller cruise ships and river vessels. From either pier, you can take a land taxi to the Piazzale Roma or Alilaguna water buses.
For detailed information on the Alilaguna timetables please check www.alilaguna.it.
Some times river boats and other small ships will moor on the Riva or the waterfront promenade next to Venice's public gardens above the Piazza San Marco. You can easily walk along the water to the Piazza San Marco in about 10 minutes.
Two major ship companies arrive in Venice. From Greece, Minoan Lines ferries arrive in the pier that is located between Marittima and Tronchetto parking area. From Croatia and Slovenia, Venezia Lines arrive at San Basilio pier. You can easily walk along the water from San Basilio to the Piazza San Marco in about 10-15 minutes, passing bythe marvelous area of Zàttere across Giudecca Canal.
